The backlog of outgoing email has been cleared. Email functioning, and speed of delivery, should be back to normal. If you experience problems, please contact the Helpdesk at helpdesk@potsdam.edu, or call extension 4444.
CTS continues to work toward resolving this issue. At present, on-campus users who have updated or reset their password as requested yesterday should be able to log in to the SUNY/HR portal. Off-campus users who can VPN into campus, and who have updated or reset their password as requested yesterday, should also be able to access the SUNY/HR portal.
CTS is working on restoring functionality for normal web access from off-campus. Please note that in this case, too, it will only work for users who have updated or reset their password.
To update or reset your password, go ONLY to account.potsdam.edu. Do NOT click on links in any emails asking you to reset your password — such emails are “phishing” frauds and will lead to account compromise.
CTS has received reports that the SUNY portal, and other off-campus sites that require login with Potsdam CCAs, are not working as expected. CTS is working on the problem.
You may be able to log in to such sites by using ONLY your userid, not your full userid@potsdam.edu as the login page requests.
Full email functionality has been restored. Queued messages will be delivered over the next few hours.
CTS staff are continuing to work through the evening to restore email functionality. Outgoing email was blocked earlier to keep the College from being placed on blacklists, but this resulted in huge backlogs. Your patience is appreciated as we work to clean up our email queues enough to resume service.
Problems with email spammers are ongoing and worse than thought. To keep the College from being placed on blacklists, outgoing email has been stopped for the time being. We will update this blog as soon as service has been restored.
The phish/scam attack that began Friday is continuing. Email performance is heavily impacted. This is NOT a problem with the authentication systems and is NOT related to the infrastructure upgrade over this last weekend.
CTS staff is aware of the problem and working to alleviate it.
Our weekend maintenance is complete. We thank the campus community for your patience and understanding.
Moodle is now back online. Users will have to update their Campus Computer Account Password before being able to login. See instructions in your e-mail, a previous post on this blog, or the Moodle login page.
