ITEC will be migrating the SUNY Potsdam Banner environment to new servers Wednesday January 15, 2025 from 6:00am – 8:00am. During this time, Banner, BearPAWS and BearDeN will be unavailable. An update will be sent when the systems become available for use.
ITEC will be performing database patching on Monday January 6, 2025 from 6:00am – 8:00am. During this time Banner, BearPAWS and BearDeN will be unavailable.
CTS has completed firewall maintenance for 12/27/2024. Please report any issues to the IT Service Desk at X4444 or itservicedesk@potsdam.edu.
Computing & Technology Services (CTS) will be performing critical maintenance to the campus firewall on Friday, December 27, beginning at 6 pm. This will result in a brief loss of internet connection for the campus. Any active VPN sessions will be disconnected and need to be re-established after the update. An announcement will be posted on this blog when maintenance has concluded.

Computing & Technology Services (CTS) will be performing critical maintenance to the campus firewall on Friday, November 29, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. This will result in several brief losses of internet connection for the campus throughout the maintenance window.
Services impacted
During this time, all academic and administrative buildings will lose access to the Internet, including e-mail, BrightSpace and other campus hosted tools and services. Any active VPN sessions will be disconnected and need to be re-established after the update.
Services not affected
Off-campus and residence hall access to BrightSpace and e-mail should be unaffected during this time. ResNet internet service to the residence halls will also remain unaffected. Campus phone service will also be uninterrupted.
A hardware issue was identified, and corrective measures have been implemented to work around the issue. Connections appear stable once again. If folks are still having issues, please restart your device before reporting it to the IT Service Desk at X4444 or itservicedesk@potsdam.edu.
The connection issues appear to be on our service provider side. CTS is working with our provider to restore service as soon as possible.
